Happily Everly After

Everly was born with multiple complex and critical heart defects. She had her first open-heart surgery at just 3 days old, and two more before her first birthday. In addition to her heart condition, she has several other health challenges—pulmonary, endocrine, GI, ENT, and hematologic issues—all as a result of complications from her condition and surgeries. She takes multiple medications daily and does frequent breathing treatments.

Because her heart didn’t form properly in utero, surgeons have placed synthetic components to help it function. Unfortunately, one of those is deteriorating and also causing narrowing in another area of her heart. With current medical technology, she’ll need open-heart surgeries every few years for the rest of her life. Her 4th open heart surgery will likely be in the next year or so.

Despite all she's been through, Everly is joyful, imaginative, and so full of life. We’re endlessly grateful for the brilliant doctors and surgeons who keep her heart going!
