Dr Srinivas Ramaka,Chairman Srinivasa Heart Foundation and Consultant Cardiologist ,Srinivasa Heart Centre has been conducting World Heart Day events from 2001.
In this 24th year of conducting World Heart Day,Srinivasa Heart Foundation partnered with the Telangana Academy of Sciences.
The Telangana Academy of Sciences in association with Srinivasa Heart Foundation conducted World Heart Day 2024. The program included the Know Your Heart Program, an awareness session on heart health and training in High-quality Hands-only CPR (using the QCPR Laerdal mannequin), and the use of an AED. The program was conducted as a part of the National CPR Challenge Campaign on 29/9/24 from 7 am to 7 pm at the NRI Alumni Education Centre,Kakatiya Medical College,Warangal.
Dr Srinivas Ramaka,Chairman of Srinivasa Heart Foundation imparted Training in High-Quality Hands-only CPR to all the attendees in this marathon CPR training session.
Starting with the morning walkers group, retired employees, high school students from 15 schools, college students, NCC and NSS cadets, pharmacy and physiotherapy students, Indian Redcross staff,RTC staff(drivers and conductors of Road Transport Corporation) , local officials, Kakatiya University staff, totaling around 1400 participants were involved in this daylong program.
The local Member of Parliament Dr Kadiyam Kavya and district officials addressed the participants and gave the WHD message. Attendees were also given certificates. All attendees were given pamphlets on CPR written by Dr Vemuri Murthy (Adjunct Associate Prof University of Illinois) and Dr Srinivas Ramaka in English, Telugu and Hindi.
Srinivasa Heart Foundation has been conducting awareness programs on heart health since 1999 and lay rescuer CPR free training sessions from 2009 to different sections of the population (around 125--150 individual sessions) till now.
In 2014,the World Heart Federation has recognised the World Heart Day activities of Srinivasa Heart Foundation -The HEART(Health Education and Awareness in Rural Telangana) program as a Case study,the one and only one from India.Apart from this Srinivasa Heart Foundation has been involved in clinical Cardiology research and published the first registry on Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in India. This publication received the FAIRest dataset International Award of Elsevier Data Management Board in 2021.
The National CPR Challenge Campaign was initiated by Srinivasa Heart Foundation in 2018.
Srinivasa Heart Foundation focusses on the ART initiative-Creating Awareness on heart health ,conduct Research in Clinical Cardiology and Teach and Train the lay public in CPR and also Teach and Train the medical professionals.
Overall the World Heart Day activities of Srinivasa Heart Foundation aim in improving survival from Cardiovascular disease.
