This is an exciting opportunity for representatives to come together for the first time to strengthen the movement and drive progress towards achieving our 25by25 goal. Over two days there will be a mixture of plenary sessions and workshops focusing on three key areas:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>1. Advocacy and accountability \u2013 translating global commitments to national and regional action on non-communicable diseases (NCDs)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>2. Organizational development \u2013 ensuring national and regional NCD alliances are well equipped to drive change<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>3. Collaboration for success \u2013 twinning between alliances and partnerships across other stakeholders to maximise impact<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>World Heart Federation senior leaders and advocacy representatives will be attending the event, with WHF CEO and NCDA Vice Chair Johanna Ralston moderating Plenary Session 1, and WHF Past President Professor Srinath Reddy providing the keynote address of this session.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>At WHF, we see the Forum as an excellent opportunity to coordinate global efforts to tackle the shared risk factors of NCDs. It is our belief that building a strong NCD civil society movement at national and regional levels is a critical enabler to stimulating political leadership and action on NCDs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This event should help to strengthen the movement by providing a platform to share advocacy strategies and put a spotlight on organizational development. The cardiovascular disease (CVD) world will be well represented at the Forum, giving us the chance to work through national alliances with a focus on strengthening national plans, raising the profile of NCDs and developing appropriate solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;This first Global NCD Alliance Forum provides opportunities for us to, together, galvanise greater attention and resources for the NCD civil society movement in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). I believe that by raising awareness, many lives can be saved through better early detection &#8211; this requires prompt, intensive and collective action.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Luis Castro, Chair, NCD Alliance Executive Director, International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;The Forum signals a shift in the NCD Alliance\u2019s own strategic priorities. During the period 2016-2020, we will be placing greater emphasis on building capacity of NCD civil society organisations and alliances at national and regional levels.
