From 30 November to 1 December, the World Heart Federation will be attending the \u2018Dialogue on how to Strengthen International Cooperation on the Prevention and Control of NCDs\u2019 at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
This discussion is part of the ongoing work of the WHO\u2019s GCM-NCD project<\/a> (Global Coordinating Mechanism for NCDs), which was formed in 2014 to build on the commitments made by Member States at the United Nations in 2011 and 2014.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The dialogue will focus on strengthening international cooperation on NCDs in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>, addressing areas such as financing national NCD responses in the post-2015 era, making the case for coherence between health and trade policies for sustainable development, and making the investment case for donors to enhance NCD prevention in ODA (Overseas Development Assistance) policies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The dialogue will also look at how NCD programmes can be integrated with other areas of development, and will address specifically what needs to change in the SDG era for these programmes to be incorporated effectively into national plans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n On Sunday 29 November, CEO Johanna Ralston will be speaking at the following pre-dialogue caucuses<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n – The complementary contribution of the private sector and philanthropic foundations<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n – Nongovernmental organizations and the next generation \u2013 advocacy and accountability for NCDs<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Organized by NCD Alliance and Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The World Heart Federation looks forward to attending this dialogue as a key participant, to collaborate with other stakeholders from different sectors in order to achieve the Agenda 2030 goals<\/a> and the crucial NCD-related target of reducing premature deaths from NCDs by 25% by 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" From 30 November to 1 December, the World Heart Federation will be attending the \u2018Dialogue on how to Strengthen International Cooperation on the Prevention and Control of NCDs\u2019 at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva.
