{"id":2286,"date":"2015-12-10T13:24:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T13:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/children-in-the-city-gathers-pace-in-romania\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T19:08:11","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T18:08:11","slug":"children-in-the-city-gathers-pace-in-romania","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/children-in-the-city-gathers-pace-in-romania\/","title":{"rendered":"Children in the City gathers pace in Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Children in the City gathers pace in Romania<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Children in the City project in Romania has been developed by the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), in partnership with the Romanian Heart Foundation, to promote physical activity in children aged 7 to 12 living in low-income urban neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Children in six schools in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara are now being encouraged to &#8216;Be Active, Love Your Heart&#8217;. Thirty-eight teachers have been trained on the importance of physical activity and how to bring it to life in schools, and a toolkit has been developed to support all those involved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/toolkits-cvd-children-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download the free Children in the City toolkit<\/a> for teachers and parents and promote physical activity in your own school or home<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Around 1,500 children are now taking part in the project&#8217;s pedometer challenge. You can find full details of this challenge in the toolkit, which involves each child being given a pedometer and a weekly calculating of all the steps walked. The end goal is for all the participating children to walk, in their classes, to the UEFA EURO 2016 final in Paris!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The toolkit also includes a leaflet for children with lots of physical activity ideas, and additional information and ideas for parents and teachers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Children in the City gathers pace in Romania &nbsp;
