{"id":2312,"date":"2015-02-09T08:37:00","date_gmt":"2015-02-09T08:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/the-first-who-global-meeting-of-national-ncd-programme-directors-and-managers-takes-place-15-17-february\/"},"modified":"2023-06-30T15:07:26","modified_gmt":"2023-06-30T13:07:26","slug":"the-first-who-global-meeting-of-national-ncd-programme-directors-and-managers-takes-place-15-17-february","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/the-first-who-global-meeting-of-national-ncd-programme-directors-and-managers-takes-place-15-17-february\/","title":{"rendered":"The first WHO Global Meeting of National NCD Programme Directors and Managers takes place 15-17 February"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The aim of this World Health Organization meeting, taking place in Geneva, is to support national NCD programme directors and managers as they work to achieve a 25% reduction in premature mortality from NCDs by 2025 in their countries.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The NCD Programme Managers and Directors will share best practice and experience on how to implement the four time-bound national commitments for 2015 and 2016 included in the 2014 UN Outcome Document on NCDs, taking into account the NCD-related targets included in the proposed Sustainable Development Goals and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development.<\/p>\n<p>The main meeting is closed, however the WHO has organized two side events that include Civil Society, and World Heart Federation (WHF) has been invited to present during these sessions. Johanna Ralston, WHF CEO, will speak on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/what-we-do\/whf-roadmaps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WHF Roadmaps<\/a>, and Pablo Perel, WHF Senior Science Advisor will discuss proposals for a fixed dose combination strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Other topics to be covered by the meeting revolve around six themes: governance, prevention, health systems, coordination and integration, access to medicines and financing for NCDs.<\/p>\n<p>You can find out more about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/nmh\/events\/2016\/ncd-focal-points\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener\">WHO meeting here<\/a> and we will also produce our own report of the meeting after 17 February, so please check our website for more details.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The aim of this World Health Organization meeting, taking place in Geneva, is to support national NCD programme directors and managers as they work to achieve a 25% reduction in premature mortality from NCDs by 2025 in their countries.
