{"id":2365,"date":"2016-06-06T11:38:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-06T10:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/ten-pillars-for-the-africa-roadmap-to-achieve-25-control-rate-of-hypertension-by-2025\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T19:09:34","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T18:09:34","slug":"ten-pillars-for-the-africa-roadmap-to-achieve-25-control-rate-of-hypertension-by-2025","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/ten-pillars-for-the-africa-roadmap-to-achieve-25-control-rate-of-hypertension-by-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten pillars for the Africa roadmap to achieve 25% control rate of hypertension by 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Today at WCC 2016, the Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) presented their ten pillars for the Africa roadmap which has as its goal a 25% control rate of hypertension in the region by 2025.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ten pillars are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All national programmes on NCDs should contain a plan for the detection of hypertension<\/li>\n<li>Allocate appropriate funding and resources to the plan for the detection, treatment and control of hypertension<\/li>\n<li>Create simple and practical clinical guidelines which are required for the detection, treatment and control of hypertension<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and report rates of detection, treatment and control on an annual basis with a clear target of improvement by 2025 using the WHO stepwise surveillance in all countries<\/li>\n<li>Integrate detection treatment and control of hypertension within existing health service such as vertical programmes (for example HIV, TB)<\/li>\n<li>Shift the paradigm to promote task sharing with adequately trained community health workers, etc<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the availability of essential equipment and medicines for the management of hypertension at primary and all levels of care<\/li>\n<li>Provide universal access and coverage for the detection, treatment and control<\/li>\n<li>Support high quality research to produce the evidence that will guide interventions<\/li>\n<li>Invest in population level interventions for the prevention of hypertension such as reduction in high salt intake, increase in fruit and vegetable diet, physical activity and reduction of obesity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today at WCC 2016, the Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR) presented their ten pillars for the Africa roadmap which has as its goal a 25% control rate of hypertension in the region by 2025. &nbsp;
