In the framework of this partnership, the World Heart Federation will be organizing a national roundtable on cardiovascular health in Nairobi, Kenya, on 21 March 2018, with our member the Kenyan Cardiology Society, as well as the 3<span class=\"Normal__Char\">rd<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/2nd-global-summit-circulatory-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"Hyperlink__Char\">Global Summit on Circulatory Health<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on 4-5 December 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Global Summit is the thought leadership event designed to elevate cardiovascular disease, the world\u2019s number one killer, as the top priority for Key Opinion Leaders, Ministers of Health and Public Health Officials, and Industry Leaders.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-4493 media-4493\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/AA-photo-SDG-600.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cWe are delighted to be partnering with Access Accelerated, a forward-looking global initiative that works to increase access to non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention and care in low- and middle-income countries. Among NCDs, <a href=\"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/what-is-cvd\/\">cardiovascular diseases (CVD)<\/a> remain the world\u2019s foremost causes of premature deaths, so advocacy efforts are crucial to reducing the global burden of disease. We look forward to working with Access Accelerated to advance cardiovascular health.\u201d<\/em> Jean-Luc Eisel\u00e9, CEO, World Heart Federation<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cWith Access Accelerated we are working to put the patient first in efforts to reduce barriers to access to treatment and care for NCDs in low- and middle-income countries in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0 We recognize the significant burden cardiovascular disease places on health systems and see the World Heart Federation as an essential partner in taking steps to mitigate this impact.\u00a0 We look forward to working together in this important area.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>James Headen Pfitzer, Director, Access Accelerated<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\"><strong><span class=\"Normal__Char\">About\u00a0 the World Heart Federation and Access Accelerated<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">Access Accelerated is a consortium of more than 20 biopharmaceutical companies and associations, which also partners with the World Bank and the Union of International Cancer Control, \u00a0working to put the patient first in efforts to reduce barriers to access to treatment and care for NCDs in low- and middle-income countries in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">The World Heart Federation is the only CVD non-governmental organization in official relations with the World Health Organization, and a member of the NCD Alliance. WHF works at the international and national levels through our own activities and those of our 200 plus members.
