{"id":2657,"date":"2018-03-08T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T15:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/a-call-to-action-on-world-kidney-day\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T19:13:58","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T18:13:58","slug":"a-call-to-action-on-world-kidney-day","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/a-call-to-action-on-world-kidney-day\/","title":{"rendered":"A call to action on World Kidney Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"post-4593 media-4593\" class=\"align-none break-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/WKD-1024x768-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>As the incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease escalates, investing in preventive measures on a governmental level and educating the public and the medical community has never been more important.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this goal, the<strong>\u00a0International Society of Nephrology<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>International Federation of Kidney Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0have partnered with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenandncds.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taskforce on Women and Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs)<\/a>\u00a0to develop a policy document on \u201cKidney Disease &amp; Women\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The statement highlights current evidence and key challenges in the areas of kidney disease and maternal and child health, access to kidney care and prevention of kidney disease and sets out concrete policy recommendations to address these issues.<\/p>\n<p>To mark World Kidney Day and International Women\u2019s Day 2018, we highlight the impact of kidney disease on women\u2019s health and the urgent need for targeted, gender-sensitive prevention measures and treatment throughout the life cycle of women and girls.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly encourage you to disseminate this document to your governments and policy makers and share it on your social media accounts.
