{"id":2809,"date":"2018-09-24T13:04:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T12:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/whf-cholesterol-roadmap-presented-at-the-latin-american-cholesterol-summit-in-mexico\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T19:16:47","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T18:16:47","slug":"whf-cholesterol-roadmap-presented-at-the-latin-american-cholesterol-summit-in-mexico","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/world-heart-federation.org\/news\/whf-cholesterol-roadmap-presented-at-the-latin-american-cholesterol-summit-in-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"WHF Cholesterol Roadmap presented at the Latin American Cholesterol Summit in Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"post-6644 media-6644\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>On the 19-20 September, the Latin American Cholesterol Summit (Cumbre Latinoamericana del Colesterol) took place in Mexico City.\u00a0 As part of this event, World Heart Federation (WHF) member iHHub organized the WHF Cholesterol roadmap adoption for Mexico.\u00a0 The keynote speech was delivered by our CEO Jean-Luc Eisel\u00e9 and Dr Enrique Morales Villegas from the Mexican Society of Cardiology (also WHF member) in order to fight the alarming situation of cholesterol in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the relevant information from the event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data on the epidemiology of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) were presented, as well as facts and figures about the current situation of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Latin America. It was noted that one of the complications of cholesterol is the lack of symptoms and it is said to be a silent disease.<\/li>\n<li>Specialists spoke about the importance of executing the Cholesterol Roadmap, focused on this occasion on FH, and presented an action plan.<\/li>\n<li>The relationship of WHF with Mexico and Latin America were strengthened.
