Today at the World Congress of Cardiology & Cardiovascular Health 2018, we held our General Assembly, during which elections were held for several positions, including that of WHF President-Elect and Vice President-Elect.<\/h2>\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n

Professor Fausto Pinto<\/strong>\u00a0graduated from Lisbon University Medical School in 1984. He did his Cardiology internship at Santa Maria University Hospital \u2013 CHLN, E.P.E. (Lisbon, Portugal), and Stanford University Medical School (CA, USA), where he was a Clinical Fellow. He was then Clinical Attending in the Echocardiography laboratory and underwent an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the same institution.<\/p>\n

He is currently the\u00a0Dean of the Faculty of Medicine\u00a0of the University of Lisbon (Lisbon, Portugal), and\u00a0Full Professor of Cardiology. He is also the\u00a0Head of the Cardiology Department\u00a0and of the\u00a0Heart and Vascular Department\u00a0of Santa Maria University Hospital, CHLN E.P.E., and the\u00a0Director of Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute\u00a0(ICVL) since 1999.<\/p>\n

Prof. Pinto will take over as President-Elect next year when Prof. Karen Sliwa takes up her position as WHF President.<\/p>\n

Professor Jagat Narula<\/strong>\u00a0is a Philip J. and Harriet L. Goodhart Professor of Cardiology at the Zena & Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Chief of the Division of Cardiology of St. Luke\u2019s & Roosevelt Hospitals of Mount Sinai, Director of Cardiovascular Imaging for the Mount Sinai Health System, and Associate Dean of the Arnhold Institute for Global Health at Mount Sinai.<\/p>\n

He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Imaging, Executive Editor of Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Editor-in-Chief of the Global Heart (the official Journal of World Heart Federation).<\/p>\n

Prof. Narula will take over as Vice President-Elect next year when Nooshin\u00a0Bazargani\u200b becomes WHF Vice President.<\/p>\n

Professor David Wood<\/strong>, President, World Heart Federation, comments on the appointments:<\/p>\n

“Professor Pinto is one of the world’s leading lights in cardiovascular health and it is an honour for the World Heart Federation to have him extend his WHF Board role in his new official capacity as President-Elect. Being WHF President has been a huge privilege for me but at the end of this year I know that I will be leaving our organization in the best possible hands with Karen Sliwa, Nooshin Bazargani\u200b, Fausto Pinto and Jagat Narula at the helm.”<\/em><\/p>\n
