The Heart Heroes school campaign is supported by the World Heart Grant Programme.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0040-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The activity was organized by the Zambia Heart and Stroke Foundation in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Health of Zambia and civil society.<\/p>\n<p>The main event was facilitated by three experts:<\/p>\n<p>Dr Ngosa Mumba,\u00a0 cardiac consultant from the University Teaching Hospital, who talked about the causes of RHD in Children and prevention;<\/p>\n<p>Mr John Mayeya from the Ministry of Health, who facilitated the discussion on health consequences of tobacco use by children;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Francis Phiri, Executive Director of the Mental Health Users Association of Zambia, who address the issue of alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-11104 media-11104\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0513-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"post-11101 media-11101\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0219-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"563\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>More than twenty school children participated in the event and promised to say \u201cno to tobacco and alcohol, eat healthier and practice physical activity at least 30 minutes each day\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-11103 media-11103\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0306-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"892\" height=\"595\" \/><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"post-11105 media-11105\" class=\"align-none center-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.world-heart-federation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0515-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"897\" height=\"599\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Zambia Heart and Stroke Foundation recently launched a new initiative designed to educate schoolchildren about rheumatic heart disease and raise awareness of the negative impact that tobacco and alcohol consumption can have on their hearts.
