The World Heart Federation (WHF) is pleased to announce a series of ’roundtables’ focusing attention on cholesterol, as highlighted in the WHF Roadmaps programme. In collaboration with a number of WHF members, meetings will be taking place during the remainder of 2017 where national experts will discuss practical ways in which a focus on cholesterol can help minimize premature mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD) in their national settings.
Countries participating in the roundtables include Spain, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Colombia. Brazil and Spain have already held initial meetings, which have brought together a number of experts dedicated to working out how to best improve outcomes for patients with high cholesterol.
The focus of the individual meetings varies depending on the country’s priorities, but each one refers to the WHF Cholesterol Roadmap which looks at the global perspective of gaps in terms of treatment, access, screening and continued follow-up of patients. Many of the meetings will act as a launchpad for further collaboration opportunities at a national level ensuring that policy changes are possible.
