San Marino, officially known as the **Republic of San Marino**, is a small, landlocked microstate in southern Europe. It is one of the world’s oldest republics, having been founded in 301 AD. Situated on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains, it is completely surrounded by Italy, with the nearest major Italian cities being Rimini and Bologna.
San Marino’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its medieval charm.
