WHD2020: Webinar for a Cause

World Heart Day (WHD) is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. The Sigma Lambda Chi Fraternity and Sorority of Bicol University - College of Medicine unites with the World Heart Federation in the fight against cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and reduce the global disease problem.

With this year’s theme: ‘Be a Heart Hero’, the SLC fraternity and sorority conducted a Webinar for a Cause to assist and support Santiago C. Agawa Jr. from Naga City, Camarines Sur, who has severe three-vessel coronary artery diseases and in need of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. In addition, lecture series on tips taking care of heart, smoking cessation, and healthy diet was done last September 26, 2020 at 1:00 PM via Zoom which was opened to the public to inspire more people to take good care of their hearts, especially now that we are facing this COVID-19 pandemic.

The #WorldHeartDay celebration was a success not only for the SLC fraternity and sorority but also for the World Heart Federation. We are SLC, and we'll continue to serve through honor and principled actions.
