A call to action on World Kidney Day!

08 Mar 2018

As the incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease escalates, investing in preventive measures on a governmental level and educating the public and the medical community has never been more important.

To achieve this goal, the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundation have partnered with the Taskforce on Women and Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) to develop a policy document on “Kidney Disease & Women”.

The statement highlights current evidence and key challenges in the areas of kidney disease and maternal and child health, access to kidney care and prevention of kidney disease and sets out concrete policy recommendations to address these issues.

To mark World Kidney Day and International Women’s Day 2018, we highlight the impact of kidney disease on women’s health and the urgent need for targeted, gender-sensitive prevention measures and treatment throughout the life cycle of women and girls.

We strongly encourage you to disseminate this document to your governments and policy makers and share it on your social media accounts. In this way, you will support our advocacy efforts and help us call on policy makers for the implementation of policies that make early detection and kidney disease prevention affordable and effective for every woman and girl worldwide.
