Vacations, festivals, and parties can make drinking seem like part of the season. But just because it feels common doesn't mean it's safe.

Alcohol can:
💔 Impair judgment and decision-making
💔 Increase risky behaviors
💔 Raise the risk of accidents and injuries
💔 Raise the risk of diseases, including heart disease

Hot weather makes it even riskier. Alcohol promotes dehydration and makes it harder for your body to regulate its temperature, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Stay hydrated, look out for your friends, and make choices that help you enjoy the summer safely.

🚨 Two weeks ago, the @UN Human Rights Council unanimously recognized neglected tropical diseases as a human rights issue. For people affected by Chagas disease, this is a major step toward controlling the disease as a public health problem and advancing a more equitable, rights-based response.

1 in 3 deaths among women are caused by cardiovascular disease. Yet women are still too often misdiagnosed, with heart disease symptoms overlooked or mistaken for anxiety.

At our #WHA79 side-events in May, we explored the critical link between women and heart health. Dr Taskeen Khan explained that the tendency to attribute women’s physical complaints to mental illness has its roots in the history of ‘hysteria’.
