The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public private initiative that has collaboratively evolved as a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. These courses commenced in 2011 as a capacity building initiative for those looking to gain a comprehensive understanding of key concepts in health promotion and its application into programmes, policies and interventions in India. The course faculty include national and international experts.
The ePost Graduate Program in Health Promotion (ePGPHP) aims to build health capacity of the participants to enhance their skills and proficiency in designing and implementing health promotion interventions and programmes. This course has been designed to suit the needs of students wishing to gain employment in health promotion, public health, community development, program delivery, research and evaluation or to cater to those who want to upgrade their knowledge in public health field. The course structure consists of four core modules:
- Basic Public Health Skills
- Theories of Health Promotion
- Planning, Developing and Implementing Health Promotion
- Evaluation in Health Promotion and elective modules: Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A); Tobacco Control; Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and Oral Health. The course faculty include several reputed national and international experts.
The eCourse on Tobacco Control (eCTC) aims to strengthen the capacity of public health, dental medical and allied field professionals in tobacco control issues and tobacco cessation in India. The course focuses on the health, economic, social and environmental impact of tobacco use. It equips candidates with an understanding of tobacco control research and best practices, as well as tobacco cessation skills, which can be integrated into their professional practice. During the 12 weeks programme, students will learn 8 Core modules and 3 Elective modules which they can choose from over eight different options based on their educational and professional background.
In the last few years, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Public health/Medicine/ Dentistry/ Nursing/ Pharmacy/ Psychology/Biological Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Allied Health Sciences or equivalent have enrolled for these courses. The course is open to both Government Nominated as well as Self-Sponsored applicants. They have the opportunity to be affiliated to this well-recognized and dynamic course at PHFI through a seamless eLearning platform.
Additionally, they have the flexibility to study at their own pace while keeping their current job or academic commitments. The course uses the distance learning approach to promote and provide quality education in an engaging, flexible and self-paced blended format through the latest learning technologies.
