Manulife employees unite across the globe to improve their heart health

28 Sep 2019

Yesterday, in support of World Heart Day, thousands of Manulife employees joined forces to take part in the financial institution’s fourth annual Global Walk. Physical activity is an important part of CVD prevention and activities like these can really spread awareness of heart-healthy lifestyles as part of workplace wellness strategies.

From North America, to Europe, to Asia, Manulife employees around the globe joined the walk.

Since 2017, Manulife (John Hancock in the USA) has been working with the World Heart Federation (WHF) to tackle cardiovascular disease (CVD), the world’s number one killer.

“CVD, which includes heart disease and stroke, contributes to more than 17.5 million deaths each year. For the most part, premature mortality (aged between 30 and 70) caused by CVD is preventable through simple lifestyle choices like being active, eating healthy, not smoking and knowing the risks,” explains Jean-Luc Eiselé, CEO of the World Heart Federation.
