World Heart Day in Japan
The Japan Heart Symposium 2024 was held in Sendai City on October 29th, organized by a committee consisting of the Japan Heart Foundation, the Japanese Circulation Association, and the Japanese Circulation Society, in celebration of World Heart Day. The symposium aimed to raise awareness about heart health and bring together experts and the public.
At the event, Homare Sawa, the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year 2011, was invited as a guest speaker to discuss “Heart Health and Sports.” The talk was attended by over 300 people, both on-site and online, reflecting the widespread interest in the subject. Sawa shared her insights on the connection between physical activity and maintaining heart health, inspiring the audience.
Additionally, Jun Misugi, a character from the famous cartoon Captain Tsubasa, was featured as the Heart Ambassador. His role was to promote the importance of heart health in an engaging and accessible way. This character's inclusion helped make the event appealing to a broader audience, especially younger attendees, by linking health awareness to popular culture.
