2025 Emerging Leaders cohort announced

21 Aug 2025

The 2025 Emerging Leaders cohort, which includes candidates from 25 countries across 5 continents, has been announced

The World Heart Federation created the WHF Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme to form and develop a long-term cadre of experts who collaborate, research, and act to reduce premature mortality from cardiovascular disease globally. The Programme, established by Dr Salim Yusuf in 2014, provides training and networking opportunities in cardiovascular health policy and implementation research for healthcare practitioners, researchers, and global health advocates.

Focusing on a different priority area each year, the objective of the training module is to reduce the global burden of cardiovascular disease in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.4. Our community of over 240 experts has so far tackled a number of issues, including secondary prevention, tobacco control, access to essential medicines, diabetes, infectious diseases, and digital health.

This year’s programme will take place from 15–19 November in Florence, Italy, and will focus on the timely and impactful theme of Artificial Intelligence for Cardiovascular Health through Implementation Research.
