World Heart Day (WHD) is the World Heart Federation’s flagship global awareness campaign, celebrated annually on 29 September. The campaign mobilises cardiovascular health organisations, healthcare professionals, governments, companies and individuals in over 140 countries to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and promote heart-healthy living.

The Advocacy, Campaigns & Communications Intern will support the Global Campaign Manager in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of campaign activities, contributing to the successful delivery of one of the world’s largest public health awareness campaigns. The role also supports the communications and advocacy team for the preparation of material for key events and information-gathering to guide narratives and messaging.

Purpose of the Role

To provide operational, communications and partnership support to the communications and advocacy team, namely on campaigns such as World Heart Day and on public outreach to support WHF’s advocacy messaging and events.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Coordination

  • Support the day-to-day coordination of the World Heart Day campaign timeline and deliverables.
  • Assist in maintaining project plans, calendars and tracking tools.
  • Coordinate internal reviews and consolidate feedback on campaign materials.
  • Support the coordination of World Heart Day activities and events organised by members and partners worldwide.
  • Assist with logistics for campaign launches, webinars and virtual meetings.
  • Help respond to partner requests and enquiries regarding campaign resources.
  • Track partner participation and campaign commitments.
  • Liaise with partners organising local World Heart Day events, collecting information and showcasing campaign activations.

Communications & Advocacy Support

  • Assist in preparing campaign toolkits, newsletters and promotional materials.
  • Draft and edit website content, email communications and social media copy.
  • Support the publication of campaign resources across digital platforms.
  • Produce simple in-house graphic design assets using templates (e.g. social media graphics, event banners, presentations and promotional materials) while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Support the Advocacy Department with a variety of activities linked to global cardiovascular health advocacy priorities.
  • Assist with preparation of content, key messages, policy materials and communications outputs for key advocacy moments, including the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and other high-level global meetings.
  • Contribute to research, monitoring and preparation of background information to support advocacy initiatives.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor campaign engagement across digital channels.
  • Collect examples of campaign activations, events and success stories from partners worldwide.
  • Compile media coverage, social media highlights and campaign metrics.
  • Support the preparation of campaign performance reports and presentations.

 

Location: Geneva

Duration: 6 months or more

Reports to: Global Campaign Manager

Remuneration: The position includes a daily transportation allowance.
