WHF Past President Dr Sidney Smith was presented with the WHF Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening of ESC Congress 2019 together with the World Congress of Cardiology, for his remarkable contribution to the mission of the World Heart Federation and the entire CVD community over the entirety of his illustrious career.
WHF Advocacy Award in Cardiovascular Health
Dr Reina Roa
Dr Reina Roa was presented with the WHF Advocacy Award in Cardiovascular Health at the opening of ESC Congress 2019 together with the World Congress of Cardiology. Dr Roa is a technical-political expert at the Panamanian Ministry of Health and Professor at the National University of Panamá teaching biostatistics, epidemiology and research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is also a science researcher associated to the Gorgas Commemorative Institute for Health Studies, with multiple publications in tobacco control.
ESC-WHF Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Cardiovascular Health
Dr Mariell Jessop
Dr Mariell Jessop was presented with the joint ESC-WHF Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Cardiovascular Health at the opening of ESC Congress 2019 together with the World Congress of Cardiology, for the outstanding achievements during her distinguished career, especially for her volunteer service at AHA and for her international renown as a thought leader in heart failure research, prevention and research.
