Taking steps together in Latin America towards achieving 25by25

11 Dec 2015

On 5 December in Santiago de Chile, the Leadership of the Inter-American Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery and the World Heart Federation (WHF) held a WHF Roadmaps meeting entitled: Taking steps together in Latin America towards achieving 25by25.

This aim of the meeting was to introduce the WHF Roadmap concept and framework to WHF members and key stakeholders in the Americas, and to stimulate the emergence of Roadmaps initiatives, stressing the importance of country ownership and commitment and strengthening the understanding of local systems and challenges. The meeting was also a platform for Latin American countries to present and share their experiences and plans to achieve 25by25.

At the meeting, the WHF Roadmaps created huge interest from all our key regional members and there is a clear appetite to work together on Roadmaps in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. As a next step we will seek to explore ways of strengthening those partnership and work together to adapt the WHF Roadmaps in LAC.
