The National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh is granted the World No Tobacco Day Award 2018

Founder & President of NHFB National Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul Malik received the award from the Health Minister Mr. Md. Nasim, MP

The National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh, member of the World Heart Federation was awarded in recognition of its praiseworthy activity against the menace of tobacco. The Health Service Division of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh announced this award on 31st May, Founder & President of NHFB National Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul Malik received the award from the Health Minister Mr. Md. Nasim, MP at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh is playing a vital role for prevention & control of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Bangladesh. It has been also working for tobacco control for long time.  They formed a network of five physicians’ organizations “United Forum Against Tobacco (UFAT)’ in 2010 and are actively working especially in the fields of high level policy advocacy, awareness creation and tobacco cessation.  In 2014, Dr Abdul Malik, Founder and President of the NI received WHO World No Tobacco Day Award. This year, the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh recognized their contribution to tobacco control and awarded the National World No Tobacco Day 2018 to the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute.

The Honorable Prime Minster of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has made a declaration in 2016 on making Tobacco Free Bangladesh by 2040. They have been working with government in realizing this vision.
