Alamein International University Marks World Heart Day with Awareness and Early Detection Activities
As part of Alamein International University’s commitment to promoting health and prevention and enhancing quality of life within the university community, and in observance of World Heart Day, the University, in cooperation with the Matrouh Directorate of Health Affairs as part of the “100 Million Healthy Lives” campaign, organized a series of health and awareness activities on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the University’s campus.
The activities were attended by Prof. Dr. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University; Prof. Dr. Hesham Gaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Fahmy Charle, Advisor to the University President for Health Affairs, alongside the participation of the University’s Deans and Program Directors, as well as faculty members, assistant teaching staff, administrative staff, and students.
The activities included medical examinations and health screenings for the University’s students, faculty members, assistant teaching staff, and administrative staff, in cooperation with the Matrouh Directorate of Health Affairs. The initiative aimed to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases, highlight the importance of early detection, and promote understanding of risk factors and preventive measures.
The event also featured a public awareness lecture entitled “The Heart Is Everyone’s Responsibility,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Fahmy Charl, Professor and Consultant of Cardiology and Advisor to the University President for Community Responsibility and Health Affairs. The lecture addressed the latest recommendations of the World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization for promoting heart health, while highlighting several simple yet impactful health measurements, cardiovascular risk factors, and preventive measures. The session aimed to enhance health awareness and encourage members of the university community to adopt healthier lifestyles.
These activities hold particular significance following Alamein International University’s recognition as the first Health Promoting University in Egypt and Africa, reflecting the University’s commitment to implementing the Health Promoting University approach and making health, prevention, and well-being integral components of its environment and institutional culture.
The event further demonstrates Alamein International University’s commitment to translating this approach into practical initiatives and meaningful practices by combining health awareness, early detection, and collaboration with healthcare institutions. This contributes to building a more health-conscious university community and enhancing the quality of life for all members of the University family.
Alamein International University continues its efforts to establish a comprehensive Health Promoting University model, provide a supportive campus environment for the health and well-being of students, faculty members, and staff, and promote a strong culture of prevention and early detection.
