The experts also emphasized the importance of community-level awareness in promoting cardiovascular health and preventing heart-related diseases.
They were speaking at an awareness program organized by Media Plus in connection with World Heart Day.
Dr. Radhakrishnan, who inaugurated the program, stressed the need to create greater public awareness about the early identification of heart-related diseases, recognition of risk factors and adoption of appropriate preventive measures.
He said World Heart Day should be effectively utilized to communicate the importance of heart health to the wider community. Observed on September 29 under the leadership of the World Health Organization and the World Heart Federation, the day provides an important platform to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention and healthy lifestyle practices.
Pointing out that cardiovascular diseases account for a significant proportion of deaths worldwide, Dr. Radhakrishnan said the situation underlines the seriousness of the issue and called for greater public vigilance regarding heart health.

Explaining the structure, functioning and importance of the heart, Dr. Rasheed highlighted the significance of regular physical activity, a healthy diet and a disciplined lifestyle in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
He said greater awareness, timely health screenings and appropriate medical care can help identify and manage several heart-related risks at an early stage. While explaining the possibilities offered by modern medical treatment, he emphasized that prevention should remain the primary focus.
Although heart disease can affect people at any age, Dr. Rasheed said individuals above the age of 35 would benefit from periodic assessments of their cardiovascular health.
He further stressed that making healthy lifestyle changes and managing risk factors are crucial to protecting heart health and reducing the likelihood of serious complications.
The program was attended by several distinguished guests, including Muhammad Noushad Abu, Managing Director of New Goodwill Cargo; Dr. Sheela Philipose, Managing Director of Doha Beauty Centre; Sandeep Nair, Marketing Manager, Naseem Healthcare; Asgar Ali, President of Kerala Entrepreneurs Club; and Usman Kallan, President of DOM Qatar.
