Support for delegates from LMICs

Travel Grants

To facilitate attendance at the World Congress on Rheumatic Heart Disease, and ensure as many members of the RHD community as possible can attend, travel grants are available to delegates from low- or middle-income countries (LMICs).*

Travel grants are provided as a set amount depending on the applicant’s country:

  • AUD $1,500 for delegates living in an LMIC in Oceania (including Pacific Island countries) and South East Asia (including Timor-Leste)
  • AUD $2,000 for delegates living in an LMIC in South Asia
  • AUD $2,500 for delegates living in an LMIC in Africa, Sub-Sahara, Latin America and South America

As a limited number of travel grants are available, recipients will be prioritised according to the following criteria:

  • Abstract accepted for presentation at the Congress
  • Income group of the applicant’s country of residence, with prioritisation of low- and lower-middle-income countries
  • Impact of the applicant’s research and/or advocacy work, based on submission of an up-to-date CV

The Congress Organising Committee is solely responsible for determining travel grant recipients.

*Categorisation of LMICs is based on the World Bank country and lending groups.
