Applications for the Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme 2024 are now closed.
This year, the programme will focus on fixed-dose combination therapies for cardiovascular disease. Candidates will participate in a five-day seminar from 28 October to 1 November 2024, to be held in Mombasa, Kenya, in collaboration with the Kenyan Cardiac Society.
The Programme, developed by WHF Past President Professor Salim Yusuf in 2014, provides training and networking opportunities in cardiovascular health policy and implementation research for healthcare practitioners, researchers, and global health advocates.
The World Heart Federation aims to reach a diverse selection of applicants every year. Candidates from academia, civil society, healthcare and the private sector are all encouraged to apply. Candidates may be affiliated with a WHF member organization, but this is not mandatory.
Selected applicants participate in online training, a five-day think tank seminar, and collaborative group work based on proposals developed during the seminar, with seed funding support from WHF for selected projects.
The selection committee will look for candidates to demonstrate their passion for improving CVD care, willingness to participate in collaborative group work, and a desire to make a difference.
“Reasons to apply to join the Emerging Leaders Programme? Fantastic peers, mentors and networks. Reasons not to? None. Join a growing community of early-career professionals focused on global approaches to CVD prevention.”
Dr Amitava Banerjee, Senior Programme Adviser & Emerging Leader 2014
