Ready to set a standard for Congenital Heart Disease in Nigeria
Being a Cardiac Nurse who has seen and felt the pain of the less powerful in the society confronted by Congenital Heart Disease, I started an awareness group I called CHD Nigeria, but after seeing this year's theme of the World Heart Day, I was motivated. I was inspired by the WHF to use ❤️ to inspire, make better choices, to advocate for changes, beat Cardiovascular Disease ? for society, loved ones, and me. We then planned for a Cardiovascular Outreach, targeted at children and we saw about 300 children. We examined them, listened to their chest and heart sound, took their pulse oximetry reading to screen for signs of CHD since it can go undiagnosed and present at a time when complications like Pulmonary Hypertension or Heart Failure has set in. On World heart day, we beyond our geographical area to Lagos State, the commercial city of Nigeria for our first event (inspired by WHF) titled Walk for Congenital Heart Disease Awareness.
