Junbo Ge

I am honored to stand for election as President-Elect of the World Heart Federation (WHF). After decades in cardiovascular medicine, international collaboration, and health-system development, I believe deeply in WHF’s mission to advance cardiovascular health for everyone.

My journey has been shaped by experiences across countries and healthcare systems. Nearly a decade of study and clinical work in Germany taught me the importance of evidence-based medicine, coordinated systems, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Returning to China, I have worked to translate these principles into large-scale cardiovascular practice. Among these efforts, the development of China’s chest pain care network demonstrated that coordinated pathways, standardized care, and collaboration among clinicians, hospitals, policymakers, and communities can improve outcomes at national scale. My academic career has also been devoted to clinical innovation, research, education, and the translation of knowledge into practice. I have served as President of the Chinese Society of Cardiology and President of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, gaining extensive experience in leading national and regional cardiovascular communities and fostering international collaboration. And I currently serve as the President of the Chinese Cardiovascular Association (CCA) and International Governor of the American College of Cardiology, contributing to global cardiovascular collaboration and the development of international professional networks.

CCA has been an active member of WHF since 2019, and I have had the privilege of serving on the WHF Board for over six years, working alongside colleagues from all corners of the world. This experience has strengthened my conviction that no country or organization can address the global cardiovascular burden alone. WHF’s greatest strength lies in bringing together diverse expertise, experiences, and voices to turn evidence into action through effective advocacy.

If elected, I will work with WHF members and partners around five interconnected priorities: advancing global health equity; strengthening preventive cardiology and cardiovascular health promotion; building a global cardiovascular workforce; empowering regional cardiovascular development; and enhancing global collaboration. Together, these priorities reflect the values I believe should guide WHF: care for people and communities, equity across geography and resources, integrity in science and action, and the aspiration to achieve better cardiovascular health for all.

My vision is not to promote a single model, but to build a platform where countries learn from one another, adapt proven solutions to their own realities, advocate with one voice for healthier policies and behaviours and create new ones together. I will seek to strengthen collaboration across regions, connect science with implementation, support emerging cardiovascular leaders, and ensure that knowledge, innovation, prevention and opportunities are distributed more equitably.

Cardiovascular health is a shared global mission. I hope to work with every WHF member as a partner—to bridge gaps between knowledge and action, between regions and resources, and ultimately between what is possible and what every patient and community can receive.
Together, guided by care, equity, community, integrity, and aspiration, we can build a more equitable, resilient, and connected global cardiovascular community—where every nation has a voice, every region has an opportunity, and every heart has a chance.
