WHF Advocacy Team are taking part in RHD Meeting
From 13-16 January, the World Heart Federation Advocacy Team will be participating in ‘Rheumatic Heart Disease: from Molecules to the Global Community’, a conference on rheumatic heart disease (RHD) held in Cairo, Egypt.
Co-organized by the Aswan Heart Centre and the Pan-African Society of Cardiology (PASCAR), the meeting will include presentations from experts and academics on topics such as secondary prevention programmes, genetic and geographic determinants of RHD, and RHD vaccine development. Participants will also hear case study presentations from countries as diverse as Namibia, New Zealand, Egypt and Guatemala.
WHF Director of Policy and Advocacy, Jeremiah Mwangi, will give a presentation on Monday 16 January, outlining the priorities of RHD Action, a global movement co-founded by the World Heart Federation to strengthen RHD prevention and control efforts worldwide.
The keynote lecture during the meeting – Towards Eradicating RHD: Where Science and Policy Cross Roads – will be delivered by WHF Past President Dr Salim Yusuf and chaired by meeting directors Professor Magdi Yacoub and Professor Bongani Mayosi.
