On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day this year, the Dutch Heart Foundation promoted this video created by various stakeholders. It features different specialists who approached smokers on the streets of the Netherlands to raise awareness of the link between tobacco and different diseases. The professionals included a paediatricians, gynaecologic oncologist, pulmonologist, vessel surgeon, an addiction physician and a cardiologist. They gave a statement related to raising awareness on the devastating effects of smoking and appealing to all caregivers and medical professionals that they too have a role to play in trying to make people quit smoking, and give smokers that want to quit their support and help. These medical specialists say that within healthcare, helping to quit smoking or prevent people from smoking should be the highest priority, considering the damage it brings.
