Statement of motivation

Being a candidate of World Heart Federation ( WHF ) Member At Large 2024 is my great honor and an opportunity to join the construction pathway toward the World Heart Vision 2030 led by the World Heart Federation ( WHF ). As a senior cardiac electrophysiologist, I have been working with the Taiwan Heart Foundation and Taiwan Society of Cardiology for over 20 years and later with the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology ( APSC ) in construction and promotion of Taiwan and Asian Pacific cardiovascular practice guidelines in ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation etc, negotiation to integrate therapeutic guidelines into government health policy-making for primary and secondary prevention of CVD and major complications, and systematic distribution of CVD knowledge in Taiwan as well as in Asian Pacific region, strongly adhering to the WHF mission codes i.e. “ Connect and lead the cardiovascular disease ( CVD ) community, Translate science into policy, Stimulate and catalyze the exchange of knowledge “. Further, with my successful foundation of the APSC Cloud webinar during the COVID-19 pandemic period, I’ve noticed the great impact of virtual internet and social media in the transmission of cutting edge CV health knowledge and live demonstration of innovative interventional technologies for CVD to the resource deficient communities. Now, together with quantum leap of the AI facilitated diagnosis and prediction of CVD or high risk adverse events by ECG, cardiac images, electronic medical records etc, I myself is optimistic to the realization of at least three goals of World Heart Vision 2030 raised by the WHF, including “ Paving the way for cardiovascular health equity “, “ Leveraging innovation and technologies for cardiovascular health “ and “ Fostering timely implementation of knowledge “. As to the last goal of “ Putting CV health at the heart of health and climate policy “, I believe that, by the coaching of the World Heart Report in 2023 and World Heart Summit pushed by the WHF we could effectively earn active contribution from the WHO, World Climate Conference and relevant pharmaceutical industries to refocus the CV health as the core value in global health strategy-making.

With longtime devotion in construction of CVD therapeutic guidelines, CV health policy-making, multiparty communication and negotiating interaction in Taiwan and in the Asian Pacific region , I’d humbly seek for the opportunity to join further to the global CV health strategy of the WHF and to be the WHF Member at Large. I will pledge to learn and share the experience and new knowledge in the pursuit of the World Heart Vision 2030 to all whom in need so as to reach the WHF vision of “ Cardiovascular Health for Everyone “.
