Subject: World Heart Day 2025 – Story Submission from Jordan: “A Protocol That Saved a Beat”

Dear World Heart Federation Team,

Warm greetings from Amman.

On behalf of the Jordan Cardiac Society (JCS), a proud national member of the World Heart Federation, we are honored to submit a story for World Heart Day 2025 under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.”

Our submission shares a real-world impact of our Unified National Chest Pain Protocol, launched in collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Health and Civil Defense. It highlights how a life-threatening heart attack was successfully identified and treated—within minutes—through a streamlined, nationally coordinated response.

Please find the story below:

Title:
“A Protocol That Saved a Beat – How Jordan’s Unified Chest Pain Pathway Transformed Lives”

In a quiet town in southern Jordan, a 52-year-old man collapsed at home with chest pain. His family called emergency services. Within minutes, the ambulance team arrived—not only with life-saving equipment, but with something even more powerful: a clear, national protocol.

Thanks to Jordan’s newly launched Unified Chest Pain Protocol, the paramedics performed an ECG on-site and sent it directly to a cardiologist via secure digital telemetry. The diagnosis? A life-threatening heart attack (STEMI). The response was immediate.

The patient was transferred to a PCI-capable hospital. The cath lab team was pre-alerted. From first symptom to stent, the entire process took under 90 minutes—well within global best-practice standards. The patient survived, heart function intact.

This outcome was not by chance. It was the fruit of national coordination, training, and commitment to a unified standard of care—led by the Jordanian Cardiac Society.

Behind every “beat not missed” is a name, a family, and a future saved.

This is our story of prevention, resilience, and hope. And we believe its impact can inspire similar models around the world.
