World Heart Day in India
World Heart Day 2024 was celebrated by D. Y. Patil School of Nursing, Navi Mumbai from the 26th to the 30th of September 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and was organized by the Medical Surgical Nursing Department in collaboration with Nursing Scholar Society with the active participation of students from different programs. Several activities, including quiz competition, poster competition, Rally for heart health awareness , Informative session by expert speakers, Role-play focusing on young age hearts attacks, and Heart Health Awareness Exhibition, were conducted to spread awareness about heart diseases and its prevention.
Each faculty was assigned specific responsibilities to guide the students in preparing materials, structuring the competitions, and ensuring the smooth conduct of each activity. Ms. Soumya Dhanesh played key role in coordinating the quiz competition, while Ms. Soniya Varne took charge of the poster competitions, ensuring that students had adequate resources and direction. Ms. Shrutika Ghadge, Ms. Prachiti Pawar oversaw the planning of the rally on heart disease awareness and prevention, motivating the B.Sc. 1st-year students to participate actively and create impactful awareness materials as well as led the team in organizing the informative session with external expert speakers, Ms. Jenny Varghese and Ms. Anjali Yadav took charge of the heart health exhibition and roleplay activities.
World Heart Day event at D.Y. Patil School of Nursing was carried out according to a well-structured plan designed by the faculty and students of the Medical-Surgical Department.The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Deepa Reddy, Principal and Prof. Manasi Rahane, HOD MSN Department with unveiling of the theme of this year “USE HEART FOR ACTION”.
26th September 2024: Quiz Competition and Poster Competition

The day featured an inter-college quiz competition and a poster-making competition. Students from different nursing colleges participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their knowledge of cardiovascular health. There was 12 teams who participated from various colleges in Mumbai for quiz competitition and for poster competition 41 participated including students and staff nurses in categories of E poster and handmade posters. We also received e Posters from other streams of University.(Law and Management)
27th September 2024: Informative Session by Expert Speakers

The informative session taken by Mrs. Madhura Mule (Nursing Administrator and NABH Assessor) presented updates on cardiovascular disease management from a nursing perspective and Dr. Asifa Shaikh (Deputy Medical Director, Asian Heart Institute and Research Centre) shared insights on the latest advancements in cardiac care. After the informative lectures, videos of the poster competition and e-poster competition were shown to the audience, displaying the creativity and efforts of the participants. This was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony to recognize and honor the winners of the quiz and poster competitions held earlier.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr Deepa Reddy,the students of 1st year Msc Nursing unveiled their Research Project - “Risk Estimation For the Primary Prevention of CVD Among Employees of DY Patil
University, Nerul. This project involves assessing various risk factors prevalent in the employees of CVD.
30th September 2024: Heart Health Awareness- Role play, Exhibition and Radio Talk

On 30th September 2024, Monday, on the occasion of “World Heart Day “students of 2nd year BSc. Nursing performed a role play and presented exhibition on “ Heart Health Awareness” in D.Y.Patil hospital. The purpose of the role-play and workshop was to increase community awareness regarding heart attack and its complications as well as prevention. Through the role-play, the students demonstrated that how young adults are getting indulged in various addictions are becoming prone to heart diseases. They also stressed the significance of prevention and its detection at early stage.
The celebration of World Heart Day 2024 at D. Y. Patil School of Nursing was successful in spreading awareness about cardiovascular health among students, staff, and the local community. Through interactive sessions, competitions, and exhibitions, participants gained valuable knowledge about heart disease prevention and management. The event concluded with positive feedback from attendees and a renewed commitment to promoting heart health awareness in the community.
