Children in the City campaign goes to Slovenia

20 Jan 2016

In early January, World Heart Federation member the Slovenian Heart Foundation agreed to implement the Children in the City campaign, which has been developed by the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

The first phase of the campaign in Slovenia will focus on conducting surveys to identify barriers to physical activities in children aged 7-12 living in selected low-income urban neighbourhoods. Eight schools have already been chosen to participate, covering around 1,000 children.

Phase two of the campaign in Slovenia, planned for the second half of 2016, is proposed to consist of practical interventions selected based on the survey results, with the aim of removing the identified barriers and creating new physical activity opportunities.

Children in the City has already been successfully implemented in Romania and activities are ongoing in Spain. Four festivals were also organized in the UK during summer 2015.
