Mongolia marks WHD23!

World Heart Day is celebrated nationwide for the 5th year in Mongolia, led by the Mongolian Society of Cardiologists, the National Cardiovascular Center (NCC) of the Third State Central Hospital, and the MON006 and MON007 projects implemented with the support of the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
We, including cardiologists from all 21 provinces and 9 districts and the NCC, celebrated the day in line with the guidance of the World Heart Federation.
This year we framed the activities into the following four:
1. Illumination for 6 sites by locating the WHD announcement video on the LED video wall of the buildings.
2. Social media activities: interviews, publications, TV broadcasts, etc
3. Patient education webinar: Listen and talk to the public via Facebook live
4. World Heart Day challenge: walk, run, and bike along the heart-shaped route in the national park.
One. Illumination for 6 sites by locating the WHD announcement video on the LED video wall of the buildings:
1. Sukhbaatar Square: Sükhbaatar Square is the central square of Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar. The square was named for Mongolian revolutionary hero Damdin Sükhbaatar after his death in 1923.
2. Nomin Hypermarket: The biggest chain of the supermarkets
3. Ikh nayad department store
4. Light street of Ulaanbaatar: The busiest street of Ulaanbaatar where young people gather and spend free time together.
5. Bloomberg TV and Trade and Development bank building
6. Blue sky building
Two. Social media activities for the World Heart Day 2023
Television interviews, livestream broadcasts, publications, blogs, and radio shows. We are happy to highlight a popular TV show named “How much is your …?” targeted at young generations and its modified special edition for World Heart Day with interesting and unexpected health questions to representatives of all age generations.
All the contents of WHD are published on the official website of the Ministry of Health, National Cardiovascular Center, the Shastin Central Hospital, and the Mongolian Society of Cardiologists website, Facebook page, and Instagram.
Social activities engagement and reached people were 750,000.
Three. Patient education webinar: Listen and talk to the public via Facebook live
Listening to the public voice became our traditional activity of the WHD and we done it by collecting questions by chat, comment several days before the WHD and during the patient education webinar on the day and the most experienced cardiologists answered their questions, concerns and correcting their misunderstood. The webinar streamed via Facebook Live on WHD in three subjects: Is it possible not to be sick from heart disease? Secrets of arterial hypertension that you might not know, Does the heart rate and rhythm matter? A total of 3-hour webinars were held, 20% of the time for introduction of the subjects, information provision and 80% of the time for answers to the public questions.
Four. World Heart Day challenge: walk, run, and bike along the heart-shaped route
The challenge was initiated by the cardiologists at the national park of Ulaanbaatar city on the 30th of Sep, on Saturday, and was open for a week. The first day physiological changes on the body when exercising lecture presented. A total of 57 people participated in the former day and 33 people joined in this challenge afterwards. We made a little modification to this challenge as a competition and the two people were awarded as winners based on their effort.
The all above activities are included in the “WHD 2023 celebration guideline in Mongolia” developed by organizer and spread to all healthcare facilities nationwide with the help of the Ministry of Health.
By province doctors’ initiation, people forming a heart shape for a drone camera, public screening, CVD risk estimation, BP measuring, and other examinations held at their hospitals, and healthcare facilities. The most isolated province Bayan-Ulgii (1760 km from the city center), Uvs (1336 km from the city center), Zavkhan (984 km from the city center), and other 5 provinces and district inhabitants formed a heart shape for a drone camera shot.
