Highlights from around the World

During World Heart Day 2025, many communities and organizations across the world organized activities to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and its risk factors, and come together in the fight against heart disease. Educational campaigns, health screenings and many other events were organized on this day to push people to take care of their heart.

This page is dedicated to all of these people, who took the time and put a lot of effort to come up with these activities. Bangladesh

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh

  • Morning Rally: Participants marched from NHF Hospital to Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium.
  • Scientific Seminar: Hosted in the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh auditorium.
  • Free Heart Camp: Free cardiac check-ups and consultation were provided to the public.
  • Awareness Campaign: Leaflets and posters were spread throughout the community.
  • As Well: Other affiliated bodies across Bangladesh joined in, with Prof. Dr. Md. Shahedur Rahman, as Chief Guest and Professor Khondkar Abdul Awal (Rizvi) presiding.

Bulgarian Society of Cardiology

  • Lectures: Cardiology specialists spoke on heart health and prevention in 30 educational institutions.
  • Speeches: Employers and their teams addressed on prevention of cardiovascular diseases and sudden cardiac death.

TarnovoRUNS

  • Walk: Organized a community walk in Sveta Gora Park.
  • Talk: Hosted an outdoor talk session on various subjects, including the importance of cardiovascular diseases prevention.

Croatia

Croatian League for Hypertension

  • Screening: Around 200 citizens were screened for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, arrhythmias, and body composition, with personalised counselling and educational materials.
  • Media Coverage: Wide national media coverage amplified awareness of hypertension and dyslipidaemia as leading cardiovascular risk.
  • Sister Initiatives: Promoted “Do You Know Your Number?” (cholesterol awareness) and “Mission 70/26” (70% of hypertensive patients under control by 2026).
  • Outreach: A live music performance and a promotional film on Zagreb’s central digital billboard, reached thousands.

Egypt

Egyptian African Heart Association

  • Marathon: Organized a marathon.
  • Followed By: Awareness campaigns, medical examinations, and an artistic show.

India

Heart Health India Foundation

  • Adani Healthcare Services: Planned internal activation for 30’000 employees of Adani Group.
  • Public Activations: Programs with Phoenix Malls and PVR Theatres.
  • Radio Campaign: Radio campaign with Big FM.

MGM Mother Teresa College of Nursing

  • Compression-Only CPR Training: Conducted CPR training sessions in gyms from 22-29 September 2025.
  • Guest Lecture: Hosted “Don’t Miss a Beat: Safeguarding Cardiac Health” by Dr. Rahul Choudhari, MGM Medical College & Hospital.
  • Intercollegiate Mime Competition: Held a mime competition on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Cardiac Health Awareness: Students organized cardiac health awareness activities from 27 September – 3 October 2025.

PT School & Centre, Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital

  • Awareness Sessions: Interactive sessions and poster displays focused on risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and the importance of cardiac rehabilitation. Patients and their relatives engaged in discussions highlighting lifestyle modification, regular check-ups, and treatment adherence.
  • Patient & Caregiver Education: Ward-level awareness sessions emphasized early recognition of cardiac symptoms, dietary changes, physical activity, and the benefits of cardiac rehabilitation in enhancing quality of life.
  • Risk Factor Screening & Assessment Camp: Participants underwent evaluations for blood pressure, BMI, body composition, waist-hip ratio, two-minute step test, DASI, lifestyle habits, and family history. Patients, relatives, and KEM staff received personalized advice on preventive strategies and heart health management.

  • Sai Global Cardiovascular Symposium: Organized a 3-day symposium with the World Heart Federation and the University of Rochester.
  • Medical Camp: Conducted a free medical screening camp, offering tests and accessible healthcare services.
  • Heart Walk and Human Heart Formation: To promote awareness, a walk and a human heart formation were hosted.
  • Cultural Programs: At Sai Kulwan Hall, a performance was organized, highlighting the importance of heart health.

Italy

Associazione Italiana Cuore e Rianimazione “Lorenzo Greco” Onlus

  • Stamp: Launched a stamp that in Italy, in honour of Lorenzo Greco
  • Villaggio per il Cuore: Hosted a Heart Village for 2 days, at Parco Ruffini in Turin.
  • Heart Run – 2° Memorial Lorenzo Greco: Organized a non-competitive walk, starting from Parco Ruffini.
  • As Well: Events of awareness, screening, education and first-aid activities were held.

Kenya

Kenya Cardiac Society

  • Healthy Heart Football Tournament: A tournament with Kenya Medical Association to promote physical activity.
  • Public Awareness Webinars: Conducted with the Ministry of Health and key partners.
  • Media Campaigns: Promoting prevention, healthy diets, exercise and tobacco control.
  • Screening: Free cardiovascular screenings offered.
  • As Well: Awareness walk, health caravans and outreach clinics.

Malaysia

Yayasan Jantung Malaysia

  • Walk-A-Million-Miles Campaign: Encouraged people to walk in collectives a million miles in September to promote cardiovascular health.
  • Symbolic Walk: Held at Perdana Botanical Garden, Kuala Lumpur, featuring health screening, CPR demonstration, Zumba and a 3–4 km walk around a lake. Tracked via BookDoc app with 1’100 participants taking part.
  • Walk-A-Million-Milles Virtual Event: Online tracking for event the Walk-A-Million Campaign. As of 22 September, 33’425 registered participants covered a combined distance of 1.7 million miles. Open for registration until 31 October 2025.

Maldives

Tiny Hearts of Maldives

  • Pop-Up Screenings: Conducted across Maldives atolls, in collaboration with Health Centres and regionals hospitals.
  • World Heart Day Special Menu: Ellie’s restaurants offered a special menu, low in calory, low in sodium and low in sugar, and has complex carbs. Orders had 15% discount and that amount will be donated to Tiny Hearts of Maldives.
  • Meeting with the Minister for Health: Requested  support on World Heart Day.
  • Bikers Association of Maldives: Dedicated their weekly bike ride to World Heart Day with the Tiny Hearts of Maldives Co-Founder Ali Muaz joining them.
  • World Heart Day Special Assembly: Held at Ghiyaasudhin International School with the Youth for Hearts youth advocacy group.

  • 25X25 Challenge: Campaign to reduce premature cardiovascular deaths by 25% by 2025, engaging healthcare professionals and the public in prevention efforts.
  • Zumbatón: High-energy community fitness event to promote heart-healthy physical activity.
  • Webinar: Online seminar on integrated cardiovascular care, training, and raising awareness among healthcare providers.
  • Petition Campaign: Public petition advocating for stronger cardiovascular health policies and resources in the Americas.
  • Borjana Pervan’s Video: A heartfelt video by Borjana Pervan, the COO and the Deputy to the CEO, shared on Sociedad Interamericana De Cardiología’s official website, raising awareness about cardiovascular health and personal stories related to heart disease.

Mongolia

Mongolian Society of Cardiologists, National Cardiovascular Centre, Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

  • Public Event: Training on blood pressure monitoring, physical activity, and healthy eating; Zumba session and heart-shaped routes; Competitions.
  • Awareness Messages: Citywide Videos displays, and an article on Ikon.mn, on cardiovascular disease risk factors. Dr. Munkhtulga and Ms. Sugar-Ulzii shared information on cardiovascular health on Mongol HD Television. The “Orgil Tsag” evening news featured coverage on World Heart Day 2025, and a National Cardiovascular Center representative appeared on the Mongolian National Broadcaster.
  • Webinar Training: Webinar of cardiologists from the National Cardiovascular Center on the Facebook page “Зүрх судасны үндэсний төв-Иргэдэд”.
  • Running Challenge: Participants, from Ulaanbaatar, Khentii, Dornod, Darkhan, and Tokyo, created heart-shaped routes.
  • Regional Activities: Across Orkhon, Bayan-Ulgii, Arkhangai, Zavkhan, and Umnugovi, citizens received check-ups, screenings, and counseling.

  • One-Day Community Heart Screening & Education: Screened a total of 270 patients and provided them with free consultations, ECGs, echocardiograms, and medication.
